We had a great session this week. We all practiced lighting a fire using a magnesium fire steel! We talked about the fire triangle – heat-oxygen- fuel! We discussed why we have fire & it’s uses! It was a great session to see how the children are able to be resilient, determined & focused!
Year 5 have had an enlightening day at the annual RE conference. The aim of the conference was for the pupils to learn from one another through shared experience and dialogue. They also explored British Values, and developed their expressive and creative talents.
A big well done to the Hillside Dance Crew for their fantastic performance on Wednesday night at the Victoria Hall. The commitment the girls have shown to their rehearsals was apparent in their amazing representation of the Olympics 2012. Well done to Isabella, Phoebe, Faith, Jessica, Sophie, Kamsolu, Isabella,Cerys, Imogen, Alanna and Lexi.
Nursery were fantastic in their Mother’s Day assembly this morning telling their mummies how much they loved them. They are now all tucking into a lovely lunch. Thank you mummies and other family members for coming along and making this day so special.
Well done to all the children that took part in the Bananagrams final today. Our winners are: Year 3/4: Imogen Year 5/6: Georgia The winners have won an electronic dictionary and thesaurus to use in class and at home.
The Bananagrams championships are now in full swing. Children from year 3,4,5 and 6 have battled against their peers to make it to this point. They are now frantically making words from their tiles in the hope they can make it to the final.
Congratulations to all the children who achieved the reading rocket. The children have been awarded with a small prize and extra break time as a treat for their dedication to reading during the previous half term. Year 4 have continued their learning about the Hindu religion this week, by looking at how they worship and learning about the items that are used on a Puja tray. The classroom has been filled with the aroma of incense and we have lit diva lamps too.
