Some Year 5 pupils enjoyed a full steam ahead event at the Kings Hall in Stoke, as part of Science Week. They engaged with a range of science activities and were excited to share their experiences with the class.
Thank you to Sonny’s Nan who was our secret reader yesterday. She brought a fantastic story in to share with the class, Sonny’s Wonderful Wellies! She also read Silly Suzy Goose, which the children especially loved as they got to try the funny sounds Suzy made.
Miss McCann has returned from her training at the STEM centre in York, totally inspired to trial the amazing ideas she has experienced. This afternoon, Year 5 have been making careful observations, using a range of scientific equipment to ask and answer questions about mixing substances.
Excel sports leaders have been in to work with some Year 4, 5 and 6 children. They have enjoyed trying out a range of new sports including new age kurling, goal ball, sitting volleyball and Boccia. The children demonstrated good team work and listened carefully to the rules.
Yesterday, the Year 4 children enjoyed a wild and windy day in Liverpool. Despite the ferry being cancelled, they still enjoyed exploring the Museum of Liverpool and learning more about Liverpool’s history.
What an enlightening day Hillside pupils have had at the annual RE conference. They have explored big questions in life, worked with children from other schools and religions and created a fantastic piece of artwork depicting our world and the range of different religions in it.
A big well done to the Hillside Dance Crew for a fantastic performance at the Victoria Hall last night. Their interpretation of a Brazilian carnival dance was truly amazing!
