Making body fossils in Year Six

The children are learning about how different types of fossils are made. To supplement our learning, we recreated the process that forms a body fossil using plaster of Paris (sediment) and shells (bones). Children then presented their knowledge of fossils as a poster.

Solar Systems in your pocket in Year Five

We’ve all been blown away in our science learning this week as we completed our own Solar Systems in our pockets. We couldn’t believe how the different planets were so spread out and the relative distances they were to each other and the sun.

Year One’s Materials

We have continued investigating materials as part of our science learning, categorising and sorting items based on what they were made from (not what they look like or what they do) 🧦🏺🍴The children could name plastic, glass, wood, brick, fabric and metal amongst others! We went for a hunt around school and talked about why […]

Nursery’s Doctors Surgery

This week we have been learning about Doctors. We read the story ‘Going to the Doctor’ and talked about when we have been to the doctors. We thought about when we have been poorly and what the doctor did to make us better. We have had lots of patients visiting our surgery this week and […]

Year Four Scientists

Year Four have been working as scientists to sort and classify materials into solids, liquids and gases. They had excellent discussions to justify their reason for their sorting, then recorded their knowledge in Venn diagrams.

Measuring Forces in Year Three

In our Science lesson we learnt how to measure Forces using a Force Meter. We went outside and used a Force Meter to measure how well a toy car travelled on different surfaces. We recorded our results.

Mechanisms in Year Five

We’ve had a super science afternoon learning about different mechanisms including levers, pulleys and gears. We saw first hand how they make it possible to move heavy objects using less force. Also, we thought about when they may have been implemented historically to support the construction great structures made throughout history.

Christmas in Nursery

We have had a busy week in Nursery, enjoying lots of Christmas festivities. We had a special visit from Santa and he even brought 2 of his reindeer that we learned some facts about! We have enjoyed a Christmas disco, making reindeer dust, making Christmas wrapping paper and cards! It’s been a busy, but very […]

Year Four Researchers

Year Four have been researching using secondary sources to find out about food chains. They understand producers and consumers and can link their knowledge to herbivores, omnivores and carnivores.

Year One’s Healthy Menu

In PSHE, we have been learning about a balanced diet and how we need to eat a variety of foods to stay healthy. 🍎 We talked about what we had eaten during the day and considered which part of the food pyramid each food fit in to. 🥪 Lots of our sandwiches and the meals […]
