Every week, Year One are showing great gains in their reading skills, becoming not only more fluent, expressive readers but also improving their comprehension and understanding of a text. They are reading ‘Sammy the Street Dog’ which is closely linked to their learning in History and is all about the Great Fire of London. Sammy has reached a grand, church-like building today which isn’t yet on fire – ask your child where they think he is! Showing great team work, the children read the text, answer questions and give reasons for their answers, sequence sentences together and solve tricky punctuation puzzles! Well done Year One – we are very impressed which how much you know about the fire in London in 1666! 🔥📚🐕
