This week, Reception have been immersing themselves in the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children are loving our new story and one of their favourite activities has been exploring building using a variety of materials in the classroom and also in the woods. There have been many cross-curricular links in this story including mapwork for the little pig’s journey and historical links in the traditions described in the story. The children have also used the little pig theme as a stimulus for their maths work, working out number bonds to 10, counting the spots on the pigs and writing the correct numerals. There has also been a lot of role-play based on the story and the children are now learning to retell the story independently before attempting to write it out.
