Year One have been studying Jan Griffier this week as part of their learning in Art linked to their History topic. They’ve considered his different paintings and style and focussed in on his painting of the Great Fire of London. His painting is well known as it shows us what London was like of the time of the fire. He was alive then – although his exact birth date is unknown! – and his painting is a source of historical information. We drew our own flames using lit candles, will consider the primary colours and then use various brush strokes to create our own fiery picture! 🔥
