Reception Forest School

Reception have been learning about Bonfire Night this week. They have been busy making junk model fireworks, creating a firework poem, making chocolate sparklers, and today they re-enacted the story of Guy Fawkes. We also built a bonfire in the woods and then sang a bonfire song.  What a busy week!    

Year One’s Seasonal Poetry

Year One have been learning and reciting their own poetry! They have created rhyming verses about the different seasons and then performed as a class verses about Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. They were confident performers and their science and geography learning shone through! Well done! 🍂

Year Six Science in the Woods

Year Six have applied their learning about molluscs, annelids, arachnids and insects by going on the hunt for some of them in the woods. Children took photos of the creatures using iPads. We will sort the pictures into their specific species’ group in class during another lesson.  

Year One’s Plant Hunt!

Year One’s science learning sent them outdoors again on a plant hunt! They searched the school grounds for different plants after learning about the parts and functions of plants 🌱 Then they used their maths skills to create tally chart and totals. Well done Year One 💐

Science in Year One

We have started finding out more about trees and plants as part of our science learning. Our new vocabulary included the ‘crown’ of the tree, ‘evergreen’ and ‘deciduous’! We went in to the woods and searched for trees finding oak, birch and prickly holly! Fantastic ideas and chattering about trees! 🌳  

Nursery Forest School

Nursery have been up to the woods today for their first forest school session! We explored the forest before listening to a story and drinking our milk in the storytelling area! The children all behaved beautifully and had great fun. Well done Nursery!  

Key Strings Performance

We are all excited that we have Key Strings in school this morning. Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 have already had lots of fun listening to various instruments and pieces of music. They have been joining in and learning about how sounds are made and changed. What a lovely morning 🎶.  

A noisy science afternoon in Year 4

Year 4 have been investigating ‘how sounds are made,  through observing what happens with: drums and rice, tuning forks, cymbals, guitars, slinky’s, elastic bands and triangles.
