Thank you for helping to make a difference, for proving that teamwork makes the dream work and for being kind! You are all mental health heroes! ✨💛😊

Year One’s Exploring

Year One have had a great week exploring many different areas of the curriculum! From identifying and classifying trees and plants in the (rather muddy) woods to building Sukkah’s as part of their RE work on Sukkot to investigating number and ordering from smallest to greatest and vice versa, they’re really impressing their teachers! Year […]

Reception Celebrate Sukkot

This week Reception have been learning about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. At this special time, Jewish people build a Sukkah outside in which they share food and meals in for 7 days. We built a Sukkah using a forest school tarp along with a covering of branches and leaves. We decorated our Sukkak with […]

Nursery’s Week

Over the last week, Nursery have been thinking all about pets and what they would choose, if they could choose ANY PET! We had some fantastic ideas – dragons, unicorns, swordfish! The children have all been creative and made a pet to go on our window too. On Friday afternoon we went into the woods […]

Hello Yellow!

What a wonderfully bright and sunny end to the week we have had at Hillside with our Hello Yellow celebrations! The children all look amazing in their yellow clothes and have enjoyed taking part in challenges, telling jokes and making each other smile! The children throughout the school have taken part in different activities in […]

Judaism in Year One

Year One have been learning about Judaism as part of their RE lesson on belonging. They spent time studying different Jewish items, playing Kim’s Memory Game, drawing the symbols and then learned about Shabbat, the meal enjoyed before the Jewish day of rest on the Sabbath. They used clay to create their own symbols too […]

Anti-Bullying in Year Two

Year two have been considering their role in anti-bullying this week. They were first introduced to the different forms of bullying during shared reading. Yesterday, we watched The Big Anti-Bullying Assembly 2020 and drew around our hands to show five people who would support us if we were feeling sad. Well done!

Year One’s Local Adventure!

Year One have been on an adventure, putting their observation skills to the test on their local walk to Milton. They looked for geographical features including human (man made) features like shops and roads and physical (natural) features like the fields at the park. They enjoyed their walk, their chippy lunch and a play before […]

Reception Forest School

Reception went on a number hunt in the forest yesterday! 🌳 Despite the wet weather, the children wrapped up warm and eagerly scoured the surrounding woods for numbers up to 20! By working together, they eventually found all of the numbers and successfully ordered them on the forest floor. Look at how proud they all […]
