Athletics – City Finals
Years 4, 5 and 6 represented ‘Hanley Town’ at the City Finals. All of the children performed to their highest ability and experienced a highly competitive finals competition.

To promote language learning at Hillside, the children will be taking part in a range of French activities. The Year 5 children have been busy preparing for their French market and they can’t wait for the other classes to visit.
The new Year 6’s have settled in well to their class. They have been rollercoaster tycoons and created a themepark by using maths in real contexts and they have also written a recount from the perspective of one of the animals from last week’s visit by the Unconventional Menagerie.
Well done to Hillside Signing Choir who performed in front of the whole school in assembly this morning. You were fantastic and, as ever, your performance was emotional. Well done also for the commitment you have shown- giving up a lunchtime each week to practice your signing. We can’t wait for it to develop next…
A huge congratulations to our Year 6 pupils who have received their SATs results today. They have all worked incredibly hard, showing amazing determination and deserve their fantastic results. Well done and thank you to their parents for being so supportive too.

Year 3 Treasure Hunt – Our new Year 3s have spent the week solving Mr Mellor and Mrs Pope’s maths challenges and earning pieces of a treasure map. Today they went out to search for the treasure and found it in our woodlands! Well done for working so hard!
Our new Year One class have had a fantastic (if noisy!) first week! They’ve each got their own seat, have worked well in teams and have learned all about their brilliant brains. Nursery have had a fantastic week in Reception. They have familiarised themselves with the classroom, made new friends, drawn, painted, counted, written their names and other words and made lots of lovely bracelets. Well done Nursery!
