Reception had a fantastic time on Rock Star day. They used their maths skills to work out a number of problems throughout the day before having a ‘Rock off’ to some of their favourite rock songs.

Learning in Year Six
In maths, Year Six have been sifting through censuses from the Victorian age and using the information on them to answer questions related to mean (average). Children enjoyed the cross-curricular skills required for the lesson and enjoyed finding out about people from the past whilst learning important mathematical skills.

Christmas Trees

Reading Rocket
Our first Reading Rocket of 2020 begins today Monday 6th January and will run for the next six weeks, ending on Sunday 16th February 2020. We hope the children will be encouraged to read five times per week and develop the habit of reading widely and often.
Reminder: Rock Stars Day on Monday 6th January 2020
On Monday, staff and children are asked to come to school dressed as rock stars for our Times Tables Rock Stars Day. A special assembly will be followed by lots of maths activities for all pupils throughout the day. Certificates will be presented to the best Maths Rockers of the day.

Please donate your unwanted Christmas trees 🎄 to Hillside. Great Grounds will be coming into school in mid January to work with Reception and Key Stage One teaching the children about tree surgery. Please contact the school office in the new year to arrange drop off.

A Special Visitor in School
The children in EYFS received a very special visit from Santa this afternoon. There were some very shocked children when he arrived in their classroom. The children asked Santa some very sensible questions and told him what they would like for Christmas. They can’t wait for him to arrive in six days time!!!
