Welcome back Reception

What a fantastic first week Reception have had. We have been so busy making new friends, exploring our classroom and outside area, enjoying new activities, investigating, building, drawing, making, dancing, meditating and so much more. We can’t wait to see what next week has in store. 😀

Creative Year Two

Year two have been very creative over the last few weeks. In art, we have been learning about William Turner and completed observational drawing of boats. In DT, we have designed, made and evaluated Moon Buggys, to further our learning of Neil Armstrong in history.

Minibeast hotels in Reception

This week Reception have designed minibeast hotels for their minibeast friends. We considered the range of materials available and then the children selected what they would like to use. Minibeast Artwork in Reception

This week, Reception have been getting creative with some caterpillar and butterfly artwork. We have been experimenting with a range of techniques including fixing different materials together for collage and painting, then folding paper to make beautiful symmetrical butterflies.

Mechanisms in Year Five

This week, Year Five have begun their DT project on mechanical systems. Their stimulus is to focus on fun fair rides and how they have changed between the past and present. Currently, the children have investigated with mechanisms to see how to speed up their ride and ensure it travels in the right direction.  

We’re off to France in Reception

This week, Reception read a story called ‘A walk in Paris’. There were so many wonderful features that we learned about including the Eiffel Tower. The children found France on our world map, created their own Eiffel Tower masterpieces, painted French flags, sang Frere Jacques and wrote an information leaflet detailing important facts about France.
