This week, Reception have been focusing on careful brushstrokes to create the branches on their Christmas trees. We have also talked about and experimented with colour mixing to create a variety of shades of green for the leaves. We think that they are going to look amazing!
Reception have been investigating which materials would protect Incy Wincy from the rain. They tested paper, tissue, grease proof paper, tin foil and plastic. This week Reception have been learning about the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. They were fascinated by the story of the Macabees and enjoyed creating their own scrolls like the Torah and collage Menorahs.
This week we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. Hindus retell the story of Rama and Sita at Diwali time and we discovered that in the story, Sita was taken to the island of Sri Lanka. We found out where Sri Lanka was and marked it on our world map.
We have been doing lots of fantastic activities in PE over the last few weeks. We have learned many new skills and worked very hard to perfect them. We have jumped, balanced, skipped and been very brave in doing so. Well done Nursery! 👏

This week we have been learning about why we have Remembrance Day. We read a lovely story Called A Day to Remember, which helped us to understand a little bit more. We then used our creative skills in the classroom to re act, paint, collage and colour.
We learned all about Guy Fawkes and his failed plan to blow up the king! We then created our very own Guy Fawkes using uniform and newspaper! 🗞 We think he’s amazing, don’t you? 🤩
