This week Reception have been designing chairs, beds and tables suitable for the 3 bears. The children selected their own materials, cut them to size and then thought carefully about how they were going to fix them together. We think they look amazing!
Year Two began their local history topic by comparing two maps of Baddeley Green: one from 1950 and one from 2023. They coloured in differences with one colour and similarities with another. They found lots of interesting changes!
Year Six are starting their D.T project today, which will eventually require them to build a market stall for Jim (the main character from the class text, Street Child) to sell his shrimps. Today, we are creating prototypes of existing market stall designs to evaluate their sturdiness, protectiveness and stability.

Happy New Year to all! It’s great to see all children back in class after the holidays. This afternoon, children are using Purple Mash’s Spreadsheet programme to create a spreadsheet which will calculate how many weeks they’ll have to save up in order to eventually afford some of their most desired items.
We’ve had a super science afternoon learning about different mechanisms including levers, pulleys and gears. We saw first hand how they make it possible to move heavy objects using less force. Also, we thought about when they may have been implemented historically to support the construction great structures made throughout history.
Year Two have been learning about money this week in maths. They first reminded themselves about what coins exist and their value. They then started to count coins and combine them to make amounts. The children have held the coins and used them help with their counting. Super work!
Reception have had a fantastic first week back at school after the holidays. They were so excited to see their friends and share the news about what they had been up to and what lovely gifts they had received from Santa.
Year Four have had a fantastic first week back and have enjoyed completing their DT project, when making their Roman bread. The used their skills to cut, grate and peel their ingredients before creating their masterpieces and evaluating the effectiveness of their finished product.
