*IMPORTANT* – Updated Key Worker Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

As the list of key workers who may be eligible to send pupils to school during the closures has been released we are now in a position to update you on our offer at Hillside.

The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. The fewer children coming into school, the lower the risk the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in the wider society. Schools are, therefore, being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children – children who are vulnerable and children whose parents are critical to the COVID-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.

Breakfast Club will operate as normal from 7.45am. The school will be open 9.00-3.15pm Monday to Friday and this will be the case for the next two weeks.  As you can appreciate the picture is ever changing and therefore we will review regularly.

The updated list of key workers is detailed in the following government link. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

Please note that the documents says ‘Many parents working in these sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home. And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be’. I understand this is a very challenging situation for parents, however we must, as a community, work together to maintain social distance where possible. We hope to keep numbers to a minimum in order to reduce the risk of infection and the spread of infection to our community.

Therefore, please email our office@hillsideprimary.org.uk mailbox ONLY if you cannot arrange for your child to be safely cared for at home and are one of the key workers. We must know in advance if your child is going to be accessing our provision. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate pupils who turn up without prior notice.

In your email, please include your child’s name, your job, and whether you require a school lunch or will send a packed lunch. You may be asked for evidence of your current employment status.

Please be advised that the service we are offering is childcare and will not be curriculum based.

If your child will be attending we ask that you provide a water bottle, a mid morning snack (usual school fruit and milk will not be available), wellies, a warm coat and their home learning pack. Children will not be expected to wear school uniform.

Please remember, if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be to limit the chance of the virus spreading.

So that we can begin planning our activities we are asking that you send your email by 1pm this afternoon. Please email and do not call the school.

Kind regards

Mrs Schonau
