#StokeonTrentTogether
The city council-run initiative with voluntary sector partner VAST to support vulnerable people, #StokeonTrentTogether is now available seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.
Residents can access the #StokeonTrentTogether helpline – 0800 561 5610 – or visit www.corona19.vast.org.uk.
People are also encouraged to contact the service if they would like to volunteer their time to give support or give donations.
Earlier this year, the campaign made over 100,000 proactive welfare calls to city residents, provided 4,745 requests for food parcels, received 1,886 requests for prescription collections and made 112 referrals for support services for people experiencing loneliness.
If you know of families that need support, please urge them to get in touch.
24-hour mental health service
A new 24-hour mental health service has been set up to provide support to residents who need someone to talk to and are struggling with their mental health. The listening service will also offer signposting to residents for further help and support.
The phone line is open now.
Again, we would ask that you share this important information with your parents so they know help is available should they need it.
If you, or anyone you know, needs support, please call 01782 234233
Domestic Violence support
New Era, a domestic abuse service for victims – commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Council – know that COVID-19 will have a serious impact on the lives of everyone experiencing domestic abuse.
Many people will be feeling even more unsafe and isolated having to stay at home with an abuser for long periods of time, or they might be worried about an abuser finding out where they are ‘self isolating’.
People may also be anxious about children becoming directly involved – or simply becoming more aware that abuse is taking place.
It’s important to remember that domestic abuse can take many different forms. It’s not only physical; it can also be emotional, psychological, financial or sexual.
Help is available via New Era’s Stoke-on-Trent 24-hour confidential helpline on 0300 303 3778.
Their 24/7 live chat facility is available via their website: www.new-era.uk
